DL.TV: Be careful with Compressed Air

Posted By on May 26, 2006

DL.TV guysRobert Heron and Patrick Norton host a web based video podcast called DL.TV that reviews technology events twice a week. I occasionally … well regularly … watch or listen to their broadcast. They host a great 40 minute program at DL.TV and offer their reviews and thoughts on technology news of the week. In program #62 Robert mentioned his testing of a projection tv unit that he uses a can of compressed air to blow off some dust but the explanation is better coming from the source; check it out below.
:-D

Robert Heron ‘burps flames’ … sort of. :)

A few things come to mind:
    1. Any compressed material will be extracted cold, hes lucky he didn’t explode the bulb, and cause worse damage to the projector or himself.
    2. Why would anyone spray compressed air into anything electrical that is running? Is my generation so spoiled by electronics that we ever think this is a good idea?
    3. Never heard of DLTV but I recognize both guys on that show from the PreG4 TechTV days, did they all run off to DLTV?

I suspect Robert Heron is bright enough not to spray it directly on the bulb … but I could be wrong. Nevertheless … it would have been fun to have seen the flame ‘burp’ out of the projector he was reviewing for PCMag. :-)

DL.TV is pretty dull unless you have time to kill and are ‘geekish’ enough to enjoy computer oriented new products. Its probably too much of the same ol’ stuff for most folks. (I happen to stack it in my ‘stuff to listen to’ pile as I have 8 hours of driving each week to kill.)
