It’s “w00t” … spelled with two zeros. Followed by facebook, conundrum and quixotic according to Merriam-Webster.

This is really disappointing by one of the most respected (or used to be respected) reference publishers ever.
Merriam-Webster should stick with what they know and are good at and leave the crappy internet words to the internet.

  • Hmm … tough call if you are a dictionary publisher. I don’t mind them including words like ‘slang’ or ‘Internet term’ for reference purposes, although I’m not so sure it should be crowned as “word of the year.”

Desultory - des-uhl-tawr-ee, -tohr-ee

  1. lacking in consistency, constancy, or visible order, disconnected; fitful: desultory conversation.
  2. digressing from or unconnected with the main subject; random: a desultory remark.
