Music Monday: Sunshine (go away today) by Jonathan Edwards

Posted By on July 23, 2018

When I think of “SUNSHINE,” it almost always lifts my spirits … even if it is a song with a “go away today” line … and dealing with a challenging time for many in the late 1960s and 70s. Still with all the depressing Vietnam War news and anti-war music, having one country folk song with at least an upbeat melody like Sunshine by Jonathan Edwards put a little “sunshine” in our lives … and today a spring to our steps.

Remembering back to those ugly days of divisiveness and protest (not all unlike today come to think about it), it also brings back depressing memories of a miserable decade of war. No matter which memory or emotion it triggers, here is the song for the MusicMonday archive … and just in case the late 1960s or early 70s were not your time … I’ll also include the 1980 recording of the Edwards song by Juice Newton.
