Kay Jeweler commercial feature ASL

Posted By on November 16, 2008

I’ve noticed the Christmas ads are starting to make their way in to the Sunday afternoon football games, and one of them by Kay Jewelers caught my attention. The ad features a deaf girl (or actress playing a deaf girl) and her boyfriend using American Sign Language while sitting under the Christmas tree. It caught my attention, because my son’s language classes in both high school and college have been in ASL or Ameslan.

I love the commercial Deaf means we can not hear it does not mean we can not talk .. yes we do talk funny .. I am only hearing impaired and I ware a BAHA hearing aid. My family does not know ASL at all. and my boy friend is makeing an effort . this was the best commercial I have ever seen. take it from me its not the deaf that counts it the ASL an effort on some ones part to learn.

  • First of all, thanks for this nice share. Although I never post any comment on any blog but this time I though I should appreciate your good effort and tell you to keep at it. I just loved being here Sign language is my only mean of communication, besides the internet.

  • Updated the missing video. Thanks for the email Rosemary.
