Recovery from surgery, the financial markets and more war

It has been a raucous week to say the least. First, it was a week of an up and down recovery for me after Monday’s robotic inguinal hernia repair surgery. Second, the energy/oil and financial markets that we all watch were in turmoil due to the events in the Strait of Hormuz (Friday’s Dow and Nasdaq close below).
The most important thing, the surgery went smoothly … even if it was a little more complicated than expected according to the surgeon (2-1/2 hours). Thankfully I have only a few “punched holes” and soreness to show for it … and it didn’t require cutting me open — that’s the good news.
The latter being continued unrest in the Middle East and impacting markets and our nation’s economic and political mood. Iran continued its resistance to seeking a peaceful way to resolve demands from the U.S. not to pursue a nuclear weapon or dictating the flow of trade (primarily oil) in and out of the Persian Gulf. Unfortunately they escalated again this past week and fired more missiles and drones hitting U.S. bases and killing 4 more Americans (and also striking neighboring countries and ships). The likelihood President Trump will continue to strike back is 99.9 percent … and now the Yemen Houthis are getting involved.
Americans feeling the economic pain would prefer to not be involved, but those with common sense also understand that an Iran with a nuclear weapon would not be good for world peace or future security. World peace isn’t easy (Nate Silver Poll below). ☹️
