Music Monday: The Bellamy Brothers – “Let Your Love Flow”

Posted By on November 3, 2025

Last week I heard a song that triggered a good memory (below), as music often does. This Music Monday song, “Let Your Love Flow” was a 1976 hit by the Bellamy Brothers that was often played one my roommates, Don Blinn, Bellamy Brothers Bookat Ohio Northern University (there were 3 of us my Junior year in the dorms).

Don grew up in Beavers Falls, PA and had been a friend on the second floor of Founders Hall for the previous two years. He was a unique roomie as he didn’t require a bed (slept on a closet door on the floor) which made our room feel bigger, even with three people. He also had several unusual quirks. From sucking on old peach pits, having strong opinions on nearly everything, to sporting an Amish beard (see photo), to intern pastoring  a church in a local small town and daily running several miles a day. Don was a great guy and a near perfect roommate, but he was unique. He eventually became a full time pastor of his own church in Western Pennsylvania, but Brenda and I lost touch with him after Christmas letters stopped coming. ☹️

Back to the music …

“Let Your Love Flow” by The Bellamy Brothers | 1976

… and some Bellamy Brother info with a little help from Grok:

The Bellamy Brothers, an American country and pop music duo consisting of brothers Homer Howard Bellamy (born February 2, 1946) and David Milton Bellamy (born September 16, 1950), hail from Darby, Florida, where they grew up immersed in country music from their parents and influences like Jamaican fruit pickers in the orange groves. Their first official gig came in 1968 at a free show with their father, but they broke through nationally in 1974 with the novelty hit “Spiders and Snakes,” co-written with Jim Stafford. This paved the way for their signature 1976 crossover smash “Let Your Love Flow,” which topped pop charts worldwide and briefly drew them to Hollywood before they recommitted to country roots. Over five decades, they’ve released more than 50 albums, notched 20 No. 1 country singles, and earned a reputation as the most successful duo in country music history, blending genres with humor and heartfelt storytelling.
