The Washington Nationals proved they deserve to be World Series champion by winning game 7 on the road against the Houston Astros. The entire series has been nothing but entertaining as both teams performed unbelievably well on the road … each winning every away game. Last night’s final game started slow with a lead by the Astros, but by the time a pitching change was made by Houston, the Nationals never looked back.

The final score was WSH 6 – HOU 2 F.
 

One of the enjoyable moments was to watch the National fans singing “Baby Shark” … my granddaughter Annalyn would have loved it (it is past her bedtime but I’m saving a clip for her).  😊

It has been 26 years since the U.S. Supreme Court decided on Roe v. Wade. In 1973, our nine justices decided that pregnant women should have the right to legally choose an abortion (would it be different today?). Our national debate has continued non-stop for decades, but the call is getting louder to re-address the issue …  and the debate pits the right of a women to do as she wishes with her body (as well as the “being” inside her) against the what others see as the “right to life.” Should we be protecting the unborn?

It is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore  what we now see with the help of advancements in medical imaging, let alone what we know from botched abortions and early births. The decision is likely to become more difficult for those who already struggle with supporting abortion … especially in the third trimester or up until the time of birth.

It is likely the more we learn about the development of human life in the womb, the harder it will be to not want to do something to protect the unborn — a “little” progress towards protecting life is better than abortion on demand status quo.

There were a few extra photos and some video of Brenda swimming on my iPhone from our Delray Beach, Florida vacation last week, so I’ll archive them and make a Vacation Part 3 post (Part 1 and Part 2). Nothing spectacular … but viewing the video and listening to the water and wave below is is very relaxing. Now I need another vacation!

One thing about waiting for a start-up car company to build a car is that I’m learning a lot more about the automotive manufacturing process. Nowadays, many of the parts are manufactured by suppliers to the automotive industry and then assembled. The same will be true for the unique Elio Motors three wheel tandem seating hypermiler (if it ever eventually gets financed and begins the assembly process).

One of the positives is that they do continue to send out a weekly email … usually not updating the situation or making promises … but to talk about the design and building process. This past week’s email was about Digital Buck, or a bit more generically, tools for design or Digital Mockup.

The idea of something new is exciting. Today, the terms “new” and “reliable” are practically synonymous. When a new item comes into our possession we fully expect that the item has been thoroughly tested and any potential bugs have long been resolved: any product that falls short can be an immediate disappointment. It was not long ago, however, that many were leery of purchasing a new vehicle because of the variables that accompanied the purchase. In the year of the home run, the Astros and Nationals have served as reminders that exciting, dominant starting pitching is still out there, and still effective. Both clubs, who will face off in the 2019 World Series beginning with Game 1 on Tuesday, are built around their rotation.
