Only an old Mercedes Benz diesel driver can fully appreciate this … very funny.

Hospitality of good friends and a Bundt Cake Breakfast #recipe

Posted By on February 1, 2018

It sure is nice to have friends like Mark and Dar to impose on when traveling … although I KNOW they would say I was invited and was not an imposition (the mark of true friends!)
Winking smile
They put me up at what I now refer to as the "Jones B&B" as they always feed me AND give me a place to sleep instead of driving non-stop to Florida. So nice. This past "stay" they tried out a new recipe out for breakfast … tell me this doesn’t look great?

buntcakebreakfast

Mark and I enjoyed talking into the early morning hours about everything under the sun … including photos and plans from his latest dream of building hunting log cabin on a piece of acreage. He also ended up making copies of a couple recipes so Brenda and I can try making it at home – but I’m almost positive they will not turn out as perfect or taste as good!

Bundt Cake Breakfast (above)

1 cup diced Ham
2 c tater tots…still frozen
1 dozen whisked eggs
1 can (8) Pilsbury Grands biscuits..diced up (raw)
2 c. Cheese…your choice…I used Cheddar
1/4 c milk

All mixed together. Put in greased bundt pan. Bake on 400 degrees for 45 mins. When done flip onto platter and cut and serve

You can use any meat or any veggie you want!!!! The key is not to add too much bread and the tater tots add just the right amount of potatoes…they shred up and you would think they were hash browns without making it dense! I have made this SOOOOO many times and varied the ingredients almost every single time! but this morning these were the simple ingredients I used!!! So get creative!!!! you won’t find this recipe anywhere because, as usual I MADE IT UP!

An impressive final Supermoon of the trilogy (see previous post)

P1020821I haven’t been wielding my camera around much lately as it is so much easier to whip out the iPhone and take a photo or some video … but occasionally there’s a subject that can’t be photographed easily with a smartphone or even with a DSLR. Here was my quick attempt last night with the supermoon on Florida’s Treasure Coast.

Someone on Twitter suggested the photo was Photoshopped due to the cloud looking as if it were behind the moon, so I posted a screen shot of the raw shots in my folder.

Once in a lifetime event – a supermoon trilogy

A Supermoon chat with John Rowe & Mike Hasking – 1/31/2018

Tonight is your last chance to witness a once in a lifetime lunar event.

A super blue blood moon will be visible in the night’s sky for just over an hour, from 11.50 tonight.

It’s the third in a trilogy of large, red moons caused by the unique position of the moon.

Stardome educator John Rowe told Mike Hosking the trilogy probably won’t happen again this century.

"When these three things come together, super, blue and blood, we won’t be alive. Let’s hope it’s not cloudy."

The last so-called "supermoon trilogy" was in 1866.

Playing games on a smartphone while attending SOTU2018

What was your representative doing during last night’s State Of The Union address … hopefully not playing Candy Crush on a smartphone like Michigan’s Democratic Representative Brenda Lawrence?

President Trump delivered an optimistic 2018 SOTU address

With a rebounding economy, strong stock market and job opportunities for all who want to work … there is optimism in the country. President Donald Trump capitalized on the positive attitude most American have and highlighted the recent tax cuts as something all will start to see in their paychecks this year. Besides the IRS taking fewer dollars from middle class workers, employers by the hundreds are giving many of their employees $1000 – $2000 bonuses, wage increases and several are voluntarily increasing their minimum wage. Since he is still talking … reviewing infrastructure spending plans and immigration (both high hurdles), I’ll close for now and finish watching.

Also … this is the first time I’m more impressed with the Twitter streamed video on my computer rather than the hotel BloombergTV coverage (no FoxBusiness or FoxNews). Smile (iPhone image of my computer Twitter feed above).

Astronauts may soon be eating goo from their poo

Posted By on January 30, 2018

It’s a long way to Mars and there’s "not a drop to drink" (author Mindy McGinnis) or "plop to eat" on the way … so what’s the plan?

Since astronauts are already recycling their urine into drinkable water, the next step should be obvious: "Goo made from their Poo." (in observing the current lab conditions at Penn State below, I’m not sure who is being asked to taste it? YUCK!)

poo2ediblegoo

Penn State researchers developed a system that combines microbes with human waste to help create food. Geosciences professor Christopher House describes the resulting substance as "a little bit like Marmite or Vegemite where you’re eating a smear of ‘microbial goo.’"

Drones on boats, a good idea?

Posted By on January 29, 2018

My friend Jeff is planning on ordering a DJI Mavic Pro this weekend. I sent him a recent article that has him pondering models. Jokingly I sent him this ani.gif suggesting he let me borrow it when I head to the boat … to which he replied, “Sure, if you put down a $1000 deposit. “. Ha!

Explaining How Tax Cuts Will Affect You by Dave Ramsey

Posted By on January 28, 2018

Delivering commonsense “tough love” clarifications and explanations of financial issues has always been a Dave Ramsey strength. After the Trump administration finally moved their tax plan through congress, Dave offered a 10 minute explanation as to whether it was a good thing or a bad thing.

If you are steeped in years of seeing things one way,  yet recognize many politicians and political group maintain their power by dividing people — blue collar verse white collar, labor verse management, black against white, rich against poor, Democrat against Republican, etc — then listen to this with an open mind. Economics in its simplest form isn’t that challenging as it all comes down to efficient use of money – but “government is always the least efficient.” Some believe more government control of your life will make life better for all, others prefer far less government involvement and money in their hands. Most of us who love America and believe in capitalism, recognize we need government and are just struggling to decide on how much appropriate and how much is too much.

Listening to the above video might help with this analysis — unless you are a naïve believer that socialism or communism could still work, in that case you need some serious help.
