Kansas City Chiefs win Super Bowl LVII

| February 12, 2023

Super Bowl LVII between AFC Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles came down to the final minutes of the 4th quarter.  The Eagles flew to a first half lead sending NFL’s 2023 MVP Patrick Mahomes into the locker room limping (again).  After a long 30 minute halftime, Mahomes and his team was able to […]

Depressing loss for the Bengals against the Chiefs

| January 31, 2023

I would be remise to not mention the the AFC playoff game that left Cincinnati Bengals fans out in the cold, unfortunately the excitement dwindles when your hometeam loses. In my opinion, the Bengals were healthier and the better team going into the game against the Kansas City Chiefs, but as anyone who has watch […]

The Bengals going to Super Bowl LVI meant a lot to Cincinnati

| February 15, 2022

This post is going to be “a day late (or so) and a dollar short” post … just as the Cincinnati Bengals were in Sunday night’s Super Bowl LVI. Our young Bengals put up a valiant fight, but came away with a disappointing loss: Rams 23, Bengals 20. As so many have said, 2022 for […]

Superbowl LVI bound Cincinnati Bengals are AFC Champions

| January 31, 2022

If there was ever a time to live in Cincinnati, Ohio … this year would be it! It has been a long time coming from hardcore Bengals fans, but the “youngsters” playing in the competitive field of NFL superstars on this particular team believe in themselves, their coach and their teammates. There isn’t much doubt […]

The KC Chiefs defeat the SF 49ers in SuperBowlLIV in Miami FL

| February 3, 2020

The Super Bowl was played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Florida this year and saw two great 2019 teams square off. Both the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers had every right to represent their leagues as both teams had superb seasons and playoff victories. Unfortunately, neither team in my opinion played their […]

The Super Bowl and tech humor shared by a Facebook friend

| January 29, 2019

Just another "Patriots are in the Super Bowl" year again. Whoop-de-do.  Scott Bilik and I have been Internet “tech” friends for a long time … and humorously is my Twitter “Godfather.” He has suffered his share of heartache having lost his wife Michelle to cancer in 2013, but remains strong in his faith and marches […]

So much for new home theater seating for Super Bowl 52

| February 4, 2018

This is what I get for procrastinating until this weekend — TWO right hand seats! The boxes containing the long delayed leather home theater seats (ie. basement flood of 2013) arrived a couple weeks ago but I waited until this weekend to unpack since I was out of town last weekend. I unboxed them and […]

Super Bowl LII – New England Patriots vs Philadelphia Eagles

| February 3, 2018

Once again … those of us who enjoy NFL football are forced to watch the New England Patriots play yet again in a Super Bowl. The last time they met the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl was in 2004, the outcome was 24-21 … which is slightly under margin of victory being predicted this […]

When is the 2018 Super Bowl?

| January 21, 2018

This weekend gave us a “nail-biter and a blowout,” as one writer put it. The Super Bowl will be February 4, 2018 and will be “a rematch of a game we saw less than 15 years ago: Eagles vs. Patriots.” I can’t say I’m really looking forward to it as I don’t care for either team. […]

MLS player Michael Parkhurst is a great soccer ambassador

| February 6, 2017

This past weekend while killing a few minutes, I had an enjoyable conversation with a nice young man about 2017 Superbowl LI. After finding out I always lived in Ohio, he introduced himself as Mike and ask how I liked growing up in the mid west, saying that he grew up on the east coast. […]

Patriots outplayed the Falcons to win Superbowl 51

| February 5, 2017

The Atlanta Falcons as a team deserve some credit in playing Superbowl LI impressively for three full quarters, until they didn’t in the 4th quarter.  The New England Patriots basically slept during the first part of the game and came to life in the 4th quarter. In cardiac arrest inducing fashion, New England mounted the most […]

The Denver defense dominates Carolina in Superbowl 50

| February 7, 2016

The Denver Broncos defeated the “team to beat, the Carolina Panthers,” this entire season in Superbowl 50. The game was not pretty as it was dominated by defense … particularly outstanding in SB50 was MVP Von Miller. He and his Bronco teammates shut down the self-proclaimed superman Cam Newton and the the high powered Panther offense. […]

Positive Jobs Report as US economy continues to recover

| February 6, 2015

While watching my Twitter feed and tuning into Squawkbox on CBNC (my usual morning routine), the excitement was notable particularly since partisans on both sides of the political spectrum spar to take credit for improving numbers. We do seem to be on a trajectory of adding jobs consistently which should eventually put pressure on employers […]

Superbowl XLIX Patriots vs Seahawks — still tied?

| February 1, 2015

(Edited image above to reflect final score) Ok, so that was a bit of a tease since it’s still a few hours before the 6:30 PM kickoff as we wait for what is debatably the biggest sporting event of the year, the Superbowl (thinking World Cup). Anyway the marketeers have been out in force prepping […]

NFL Playoffs … and then there were two

| January 19, 2015

Football was on call for Sunday afternoon and evening with the final two NFL playoff games. First was perhaps the most exciting game I’ve watched in a long time seeing the conservative play-calling of the Green Bay Packers dominate the first 3 quarters of football. Then last years Superbowl champs lead by Russell Wilson came […]

A flop of a Super Bowl and a few personal likes

| February 3, 2014

My apologies to Peyton Manning … probably the most complete football quarterback to ever play in the NFL … but you and your team stunk. The fine performance by the Seattle Seahawks aside, Super Bowl XLVIII was a dud of a game to watch. The festivities that now are part of the entire Super Bowl […]

Beaches, sunshine and the Superbowl

| February 3, 2013

Sunday afternoon was another lazy day at the beach relaxing in the beautiful Florida sunshine before heading back to my in-laws for wings, pizza and the Superbowl. Since we are from the east coast and the Ravens are in our division (Bengals, Browns), we’re pulling for them. So far, we haven’t been disappointed as they […]

Terrific win by the NY Giants in Superbowl 46

| February 5, 2012

Although I’m not claiming to be a New York Giants fan, I’m definitely not a New England Patriots fan … so enjoyed the 21 to 17 win by the Giants. A great game for the NFL fans and one of the better Superbowl I can remember. Congrats to all for a great game right down […]

Start thinking about those expensive Superbowl commercials

| January 30, 2012

For those of you who remember, or just enjoyed (my old  link), the classic Matthew Broderick movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, prepare yourself for a new Superbowl 46 ad by Honda. Hmm, Brenda just might be interested in a CR-V as a replacement for her Rav4 … on second thought, she might really rather have […]

Packers over Steelers in an exciting 2011 Superbowl 45

| February 6, 2011

No Superbowl party for us, but my wife and I did enjoy pizza and wings while watching the the Superbowl this evening. The Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers gave us an entertaining game, although both teams played hot and cool at different points in the game. When all the “commercials” were done, the final […]

Home for the Superbowl after a long weekend

| February 6, 2011

It feels good to be home from our quick trip to Florida and to be watching Superbowl 45 this Sunday evening, but even better to see the Bengals and Browns archrival behind 11 points in the first half. The Packers are looking solid as they have outplayed the Steelers on both sides of the ball […]

Letterman-Oprah-Leno and the Super Bowl Ad

| February 10, 2010

The Media Decoder article in the NYTimes was eye opening with all the challenges and complexity to overcome in order to produce the Letterman-Oprah-Leno commercial. Most of us when seeing the ad chuckled, but probably didn’t give much thought to the difficulty in getting three notable entertainers together — not only to agree, but in […]

Audi A3 TDI clean diesel “green” ad has lovers and haters

| February 9, 2010

I had to chuckle this morning when registering my vote on the Wall Street Journal poll for best and worst commercial during the Super Bowl – Audi was first in both (click for graphic of poll). See ad video below It’s "Green Police" ad was the sixth most popular in USA TODAY’S Ad Meter, in […]

Who Dat? Dey be Super Bowl 44 champions

| February 8, 2010

The days of the “paper bags over the head” have given way to “destiny” and a dream come true for the 2010 Super Bowl winning New Orleans Saints and their many fans on Sunday. I thought the cool headed Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts would end up on top when pitting arm against arm,  […]

Superbowl XLIV pits Colts against Saints on February 7th

| January 24, 2010

After spending a few enjoyable hours watching football Sunday afternoon,  it was exciting to find out who would go to Miami and conclude the 2009 NFL football season: the AFC champion Indianapolis Colt and NFC New Orleans Saints. After watching our Cincinnati Bengals lose two weeks in a row to an strong New York Jets […]

Superbowl XLIII commercials & the Audi Transporter ad

| February 3, 2009

Although all the Superbowl 43 ads are here, I’m only going to embed one … not because it is a favorite, but because I know my Audi-loving son will enjoy it (besides we both enjoyed the Tranporter movies with Jason Statham). Check out the making of the Audi Superbowl ad below …

Tampa Two a Steeler/Cardinal Superbowl XLIII is set

| January 19, 2009

“Tampa Two,”  as  Superbowl XLIII is being slated will be between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals. The Steelers put down the Baltimore Ravens this weekend 23 -14 while the long time “dysfunctional” Arizona Cardinals  will make there first appearance  by a 32 -25 win against the Philidelphia Eagles.
